Generative Intelligence at the Crossroads – AI in Biometrics, Forensics, Healthcare and Art
Abstract
Bài trình bày phân tích cách thức trí tuệ tạo sinh đang tái định hình các lĩnh vực sinh trắc học, pháp y, y tế và nghệ thuật, cùng với đó là những tiến bộ trong nhận dạng khuôn mặt bằng AI, ước lượng biến đổi theo tuổi tác và siêu phân giải hình ảnh, và việc triển khai các kỹ thuật này trong các hệ thống điều tra và an ninh thực tế. Bên cạnh đó, bài trình bày còn xem xét các ứng dụng của AI trong đánh giá chất lượng nội tạng, phân tích sức khỏe tinh thần và xác thực tác phẩm nghệ thuật, qua đó làm rõ sự giao thoa giữa AI tạo sinh và AI dự đoán trong việc giải quyết các thách thức thực tiễn.
This talk examines how generative intelligence is redefining biometrics, forensics, healthcare, and art. We highlight advances in AI-driven face recognition, ageing, and super-resolution, and their use in real investigative and security systems. The session also explores applications in organ quality assessment, mental-health analysis, and art authentication, illustrating how generative and predictive AI are converging to solve high-stakes, real-world challenges.

Giáo sư Hassan Ugail là Giám đốc Trung tâm Tính toán thị giác và Hệ thống thông minh tại Đại học Bradford, Vương quốc Anh. Giáo sư Ugail là người đi đầu trong việc thúc đẩy ứng dụng AI để giải quyết các vấn đề thực tiễn trong sức khỏe kỷ nguyên số, công nghệ đổi mới sáng tạo và phát triển xã hội bền vững. Nghiên cứu của ông tập trung vào sinh trắc học con người, đặc biệt là các giải pháp AI tiên tiến cho nhận dạng và phân tích khuôn mặt. Professor Hassan Ugail is the director of the Centre for Visual Computing and Intelligent Systems at the University of Bradford in the UK. He is a renowned computer scientist in the area of visual computing and artificial intelligence (AI). He is an advocate of AI for helping to tackle real-world issues in the areas of digital health, innovative engineering, and sustainable societies in general. More specifically, he works in the area of human biometrics, especially the development of cutting-edge AI solutions for biometric face recognition and analysis. His work in this area includes helping to unravel the real identity of the two Russian spies at the heart of the Salisbury Novichok poisoning case – one of the biggest international stories of 2018. In 2023, Professor Ugail participated in the 199th Royal Institution Christmas Lecture, where he presented the use of AI in face recognition. The Royal Institution Christmas Lecture in London has a long history dating back to 1825, with Michael Faraday – the father of electricity – 198 years back, giving the very first lecture in the series.
