Bùi Quốc Trung là giảng viên Khoa Khoa học Máy tính, Trường Công nghệ Thông tin và Truyền thông, Trường Đại học Bách khoa Hà Nội. Ông hoàn thành luận án Tiến sĩ Khoa học Máy tính vào năm 2015 tại trường Đại học Catholique de Louvain, Vương quốc Bỉ. Lĩnh vực chuyên môn của ông là tối ưu hoá tổ hợp và học máy ứng dụng.
