Degree Roadmap

Hanoi University of Science and Technology students have many choices of majors and career development according to their personal aspirations and abilities. The training model of the University is renovated in the direction of integration, flexibility and international integration, in order to support best for students to develop their careers.

The Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) is designed for students who want to enter the labor market early. In this level, students are fully equipped with basic foundations, solid professional elementary knowledge to be able to adapt well to a wide field of study, with a focus on abilities of developing systems, products, technical solutions and professional skills suitable to the needs of businesses in the field of ICT at home and abroad. This training system is designed to solve the problem due to serious needs of high quality ICT human resources nationwide and worldwide.

However, to develop career in the direction of becoming professionals who are not only well equipped with background knowledge, but also with intensive insights and skills in a narrower orientation, students can choose choose integrated training programs: bachelor and engineer; or bachelor and master degree.

After being trained in these engineering and master’s programs, student will be capable of developing and mastering technology, creating products and services with high scientific and technological quality. These experts can work in the research and development (R&D) departments of domestic and foreign corporations and companies, or start a business to commercialize their own scientific research products. They can also continue to academic (doctoral) career to become leading experts of the field.

In the two integrated programs:

  • The Bachelor – Engineer (5 years) Program aims to equip students with narrow, in-depth, up-to-date industry-oriented professional knowledge. After graduation, learners will be ready to hold key technical positions in national and international companies and technology corporations. The quality of Bach Khoa Engineer has been proved for over 60 years. Bach Khoa Engineers, in general, and Bach Khoa Information and Communication Technology Engineers, in particular, are currently working in crucial positions in important corporations and professional organizations over the world.
  • Bachelor-Master’s Program (5.5 years) aims to equip students with narrow, in-depth, up-to-date research-oriented professional knowledge. After graduation, learners can work in the research and development (R&D) sections of domestic and foreign technology corporations. The bachelor-master program is suitable for students having the orientation of studying for a doctoral degree and become a leading expert. The program is designed to train students through researches at the Institute’s intensive laboratory systems, ensuring students to have access to the trending knowledge of the world.

Training Programs

School of Information and Communication Technology provides training programs based on 3 main fields:

Computer Science: provides computer-related training content such as discrete math, algorithms, data structures, programming techniques, databases, software engineering, natural language processing… 

In this field, students will be able to master all stages in developing a software, a program and an information system that deals with practical problems: HR management software, ERP enterprise management software, video game, online commerce website, handwriting recognition software, etc.

Computer Engineering: provides training content to help learners to gain expertise in both computer hardware and software. Computer Engineering is a hybrid of Computer Science (software-oriented) and Electrical-Electronics Engineering (hardware-oriented). Computer Engineering aims to develop optimal integrated computing systems between hardware and software. 

Learning in this field, students will understand how to write software, make hardware, as well as how to integrate software and hardware into an optimal system to solve a real problem: developing smart cameras to transmit images to data center; integrating image acquisition modules, microprocessor modules and communication modules; writing image acquisition software, image processing software, etc.

Data Science and Artificial Intelligence: provides training content with specialized knowledge on data processing, analysis and representation; as well as methods of developing artificial intelligence systems. 

The explosion of the Internet and data collection systems has created huge data sources: the demand for human resources in the field of environment and infrastructure in Vietnam and in the world; predicting the university entrance exam benchmark scores for each industry, etc., which will produces extremely valuable information if properly exploited. Therefore, data processing, which was in Computer Science, has been separated to become a new informatics field: Data Science. 

Learning Data Science, students will be equipped with knowledge of Math (especially in probability, statistics), Computer Science (especially in machine learning, data mining, artificial intelligence …), and professional insights of various fields to be able to become data scientists. The career prospects of students learning Data Science does not only stop at being employers for IT companies, but also in specialized professional departments which are in needs of exploiting data: finance, banking, insurance, securities, market analysis, consultancy, forecast, policy making etc., specially in this Industry 4.0 era.
