The Vietnam–France Information Technology Programme (IT-EP) is built on the long-standing academic cooperation between Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and partners in the Francophone community, including France, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, and Luxembourg.
The programme inherits the strengths of the PFIEV High-Quality Engineering Programme, while updating its curriculum in line with emerging technological trends in Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. Since 2024, the programme has introduced two specialization tracks: Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (AI and IoT), addressing the growing global demand for advanced ICT expertise.
Students receive enhanced French-language training and may pursue international study pathways through 4+1 or 4+2 articulation models. After completing the four-year bachelor’s programme at HUST, qualified students can continue their studies at partner institutions in France, such as Grenoble INP – ENSIMAG (UGA) or Clermont Auvergne INP – ISIMA (UCA), leading to Master’s or Engineering degrees from France. These pathways open broad opportunities for further study and careers in Europe and other developed economies.
Scholarships and Learning Support
In addition to financial aid from HUST, high-achieving students may receive talent scholarships or sponsorship from major corporations such as Microsoft, Samsung, Vingroup, and VNPT. Students with strong academic performance may also work as Teaching Assistants (TA) or Research Assistants (RA) in laboratories of the School of Information and Communication Technology, gaining valuable research and teaching experience.
Students also have opportunities to pursue Master’s degrees with financial support from the university and industry partners.
International Exchange and Internships
Beyond articulation opportunities with Grenoble INP – ENSIMAG (UGA) or Clermont Auvergne INP – ISIMA (UCA), students may participate in international exchange and internship programmes at leading institutions such as OTH Regensburg (Germany), NTU, NUS, I²R (Singapore), Uppsala University (Sweden), University of Aizu, and Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan).
Students can also intern with more than 200 partner companies, including many global technology firms operating in Vietnam, enabling early exposure to real-world industry environments. In addition, HUST alumni networks in France and Silicon Valley actively support mentoring, internships, and career connections with leading technology companies.
Programme Structure
The programme offers several academic pathways:
- Bachelor’s degree: 4 years
- Bachelor–Engineer pathway: 4 + 1.5 or 4 + 2 years
- Bachelor–Master pathway: 4 + 1 or 4 + 1.5 or 4 + 2 years
After completing the bachelor’s degree, students may continue their studies at HUST or transfer to French partner universities for engineering or master’s programmes. Graduates also have opportunities to pursue postgraduate or doctoral studies worldwide, including Europe, North America, Japan, and Australia.
Curriculum
The curriculum follows international standards, balancing theoretical knowledge with extensive laboratory practice. Students develop a strong foundation in programming, software engineering, computer networks, databases, and computer architecture, alongside advanced knowledge in AI-enabled software systems.
The programme also emphasizes professional skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership, as well as the ability to use French effectively in professional environments.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may pursue careers in:
- Software and system development in technology companies and system integration firms
- Research and development (R&D) in areas such as AI, big data, and intelligent systems
- Technology companies in Vietnam targeting international markets, benefiting from strong technical and foreign-language skills
- Global technology companies in Europe, Francophone countries, or Silicon Valley, supported by partner institutions and alumni networks
