The Centre for Technology and Solution for Education (EdTech Center) is a unit under the School of Information and Communications Technology (SoICT), established by decision of the Rector of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). It is based at SoICT and operates under the direct management of SoICT.
The EdTech Center follows an open operating model, encouraging scientists and research experts from Vietnam and abroad to carry out research and applications in the field of digital transformation in education, aiming to improve training effectiveness and bring high-quality education to everyone. In its long-term goals, the EdTech Center serves as a hub connecting research, development, and application-deployment groups working on digital transformation in education, both within HUST and at outside institutions, in order to combine strengths and jointly pursue research, training, and technology transfer objectives in this field. The Center was established under a joint international research center model, whereby HUST and its partner, Sun* Inc. (Japan), co-invest in building and operating the Center.
FUNCTIONS
The Center has the following main functions:
Organizing scientific research, technology transfer, and innovation activities in the field of digital transformation in education;
Organizing scientific and technical service activities;
Organizing training activities that apply advanced technologies;
Participating in and supporting formal education activities, especially postgraduate training;
Serving as a bridge for cooperation between research groups within HUST and research groups in Vietnam and abroad.
OBJECTIVES
1. Scientific research and application
Organizing research and development in areas related to digital transformation in education, focusing on two main fields: large-scale online learning (MOOCs) and university administration systems (Education ERP, etc.). Supporting research directions are also pursued, including large-scale (learning) data analytics, automated academic advising support, and learning and training support using advanced technologies such as AI, VR, etc.
Organizing exchange and research cooperation activities with reputable experts and research groups in Vietnam and abroad to keep up with new research directions worldwide. Organizing research seminars within the Center to strengthen ties among research groups and create motivation for them.
2. Deployment consulting
Based on research results and pilot models of digital transformation platforms, and depending on the needs of units inside and outside the university, the Center carries out consulting activities to support deployment and application.
3. Support for undergraduate and postgraduate training
Participating in organizing and supporting training activities and developing science and technology capacity related to digital transformation in education for students of HUST and other universities, thereby providing a high-quality workforce in digital transformation in education.
Building capacity for developing and deploying digital-transformation-in-education applications for HUST staff, as well as for technical universities, institutes, research centers, and industrial establishments.
Creating an environment that combines training, scientific research, and technology transfer within related training programs.
Closely combining scientific research and application with postgraduate training; serving as a site for carrying out research tasks for Master’s theses and Doctoral dissertations in related fields such as Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, etc.
4. Cooperation with domestic and international partners
Expanding cooperation with research units inside and outside the University, research funding agencies, international partners, and application entities (state management agencies, enterprises), etc., to build research topics/projects/programs that keep pace with global development trends while also having high application potential, thereby enhancing the unit’s standing domestically and internationally.
Coordinating with universities and research institutes in Vietnam and abroad to develop undergraduate and postgraduate training content in the field of digital transformation in education.
Receiving, mastering, and transferring digital transformation in education technologies.
Providing support and consulting to state agencies and regional organizations on technical matters related to digital transformation in education.
Organizing and implementing bilateral and multilateral scientific research programs, projects, and topics in the field of digital transformation in education.
Participating in disseminating knowledge and information about global scientific and technological advances in digital transformation in education.
