ELITECH TRAINING PROGRAM CYBER SECURITY

 

This is a new program – one of the first elitech training program in Vietnam – oriented towards training experts in the field of Cyber Security. The program is designed by leading professors from Vietnam and internationally, in collaboration with major technology corporations such as Vietel, Bkav and IBM. 100% of the courses are taught in English, with a system of experiments and practical exercises based on international standards, aiming to train highly skilled experts to meet the human resource requirements of Industry 4.0 and the National Digital Transformation Strategy.

The program aims to train highly qualified experts in Cyber Security. It was designed by leading experts in the field from Vietnam and around the world. With a focus on expert training, students are equipped with comprehensive academic knowledge, alongside an emphasis on increased practical training and experiential learning in research labs and at companies and corporations operating in the IT & Telecommunications sector in general and Cyber Security in particular, both domestically and internationally.

Final-year students will be mentored by experts who are alumni of the School of Information Technology and Communications currently working at leading technology corporations such as Vietel, Bkav, IBM, Thales, etc., to enhance their knowledge, supplement their professional work skills, conduct research according to international standards, aim for the global labor market, and cultivate a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The infrastructure supporting student practical training includes a virtualization system with exercises ranging from basic to advanced levels, an incident response drill system, and a training ground for attack and defense, all equipped under a strategic cooperation agreement with Bkav Group and invested in through the KOICA IBS project (South Korea). Students experience technologies that are fundamental to ensuring the security of information systems for businesses and e-government.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND STUDY SUPPORT

Scholarships and financial aid

In addition to scholarships and financial aid from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, students enrolled in the Cyber Security Program with good academic results have the opportunity to receive talent scholarships from the Alumni/IT Business Association Scholarship Fund or from large corporations such as Vietel, Bkav, IBM, Microsoft, Samsung, VNPT, etc.

In addition, students with strong teaching and research abilities can participate as Teaching Assistants (TAs, assisting faculty in teaching) or Research Assistants (RAs, supporting and collaborating with faculty in research at the University’s laboratories) with a remuneration of up to 4 million VND/month, along with an official certificate from the University, which will facilitate their application for scholarships to study abroad later. Currently, the University is the only unit implementing these programs within the University.

Integrated Bachelor-Engineer program: students have the opportunity to receive support from the university and from domestic and international corporations and companies.

Student exchange scholarships and internship opportunities

As part of the Elitech Programs, the Cyber Security Program regularly invites international professors and experts to teach students. In addition, the school collaborates with prestigious universities in Europe, North America, and Japan, giving students the opportunity to exchange ideas and gain early exposure to an international work environment, such as Waikato University (New Zealand), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), National University of Singapore, Uppsala University (Sweden), Aizu University (Japan), Tokyo University of Technology (Japan), etc.

The program also regularly welcomes international exchange students from Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, South Korea, and other countries.

During their studies, students at the school gain practical work experience through internships at over 200 partner businesses, including many international companies with offices in Vietnam.

In addition, the University’s alumni network in Silicon Valley regularly organizes support and counseling activities to help students have opportunities for exchange programs and internships at leading global technology companies.

TRAINING DURATION

  • The Cyber Security program offers training in the following models: Bachelor’s degree (4 years), Bachelor-Engineer degree (5.5 years), and Bachelor-Master’s degree (5.5 years).
  • Students have many opportunities to pursue postgraduate and doctoral studies in developed countries such as Finland, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.

TRAINING KNOWLEDGE

  • The program is designed according to international standards, with lab practice time equivalent to theoretical learning time.
  • The program includes fundamental knowledge with a Cyber Security focus, such as: application cryptography, software and system security, malware analysis, cyberattack prevention, digital forensics, biometric security, blockchain, specialized professional knowledge, as well as subjects related to innovation and entrepreneurship skills…

  • Students begin internships at IT companies in their third year.
  • Students conduct ongoing research with faculty members starting from their second year.
  • In addition, students also receive training in:
    • Skills: Presentation skills, organizational skills, teamwork skills, leadership skills;
    • Foreign language: Effective use of English in the workplace, achieving a TOEIC score of 650 or higher.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Cyberspace is considered a new territory, and ensuring cybersecurity plays a vital role in socio-economic development. Therefore, Cyber Security specialists are currently the hottest professions worldwide, with salaries far exceeding other fields in the IT sector. Graduates can work in the following areas:

  • They work in operations, network security management, incident response, and investigation and analysis departments at multinational corporations, banks, and government agencies and organizations.
  • In software development departments, providing secure digital services to citizens and businesses contributes to the successful implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy and the development of e-Government towards a digital government.
  • Starting a business, developing applications, integrating/manufacturing devices for detecting, preventing, and combating network intrusions and malware attacks, ensuring software and information system security.
